	JPM MEGANE CUP CHALLENGE 2011

During the weekend in SUPER GT International Series 2011 (SUPER GT) on June 18 and 19, a new race series was born. The JPM Megane Cup Challenge 2011 One-Make-Race series burned rubber for the first time in Malaysia

With the upgrade restriction in place, whereby the cars are restricted to all performance upgrades; all the Megane are equipped with racing safety feature such as the roll cage, cut off switch, and the in car fire extinguisher. All the cars are racing in road tyres and no slick/ semi-slick are allowed to be used.

All the Megane perform the same, and with no advantage given to any driver, it is then up to skills and experience to determine the fastest driver. The JPM Megane Cup Challenge can be categorized into two classes; mainly the expert class and the gentlemen class. This separates out the seasoned veterans and those new to circuit racing.

The race runs a reverse grid race format which it features two (2) races, and based on the finishing number of the cars in the first race, their starting grid position in the second race will be reversed. It is more exciting for the audiences because the winner from the first race will be positioned all the way at the back of the grid to steer his way up the ranks.

The JPM Megane Cup Challenge 2011 features 4 rounds in a year. Based on their finishing position of every race, each driver is given points that contribute to their final championship trophy. Furthermore, there are special prizes to be given to the “Most Consistent Driver” where his average time per lap is most consistent with the qualifying round and the “Most Improved Driver” where his best time has the biggest improvement from the qualifying round.
